The Home
This approximately 1,500-square-foot row house spans three floors and features a classic Brooklyn layout with generous windows, original architectural details, and well-maintained finishes throughout.
Because the home required very few repairs, our work focused almost entirely on repainting and color transformation. The goal was to introduce depth, warmth, and cohesion without overwhelming the space.
Our client selected a palette built around Benjamin Moore First Crush, a soft, earthy neutral that became the foundation of the home's new identity. Additional colors, including Smokey Taupe and Blue Gasp, were introduced strategically throughout the upper floors to create contrast and individuality from room to room.
Creating Flow Through Color Drenching
The most significant transformation occurred on the parlor level, where we color drenched the entire floor using Benjamin Moore First Crush.
Color drenching is the technique of applying the same color across walls, ceilings, trim, and architectural details while varying the finish to create subtle contrast. Instead of breaking up a space with bright white trim and ceilings, color drenching allows the eye to move continuously throughout the room, creating a more immersive and intentional design.
In this home, the approach softened transitions between spaces and highlighted the architecture without competing with it. The result feels cohesive, elevated, and remarkably calming despite the richness of the color.
Upstairs, the bedrooms, office, hallway, and bathroom received their own color-drenched treatments, introducing additional personality while maintaining a strong connection to the overall palette.
